Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking stay on further sale of electoral bonds ahead of Assembly elections as sought in the application moved by the NGO, Association for Democratic Reforms.
The Centre had earlier told the Bench that the bonds would be issued from 1st April to 10th April. The NGO claimed that further sale of Electoral Bonds would further increase illegal and illicit funding of political parties.
The Bench observed that if a political party receive electoral bonds worth Rs 100 crore then there isn’t any assurance that it won’t be used for illegal purpose.
