HC OF UTTARAKHAND ISSUES NOTICE TO ITS TOURISM MINISTER SEEKING IT’S RESPONSE AS TO VIOLATION OF QUARANTINE ORDER.

A PIL was recently filed in Uttarakhand HC drawing the Court’s attention to the violation of quarantine order by the Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj. The PIL stated that the Tourism Minister has been attending meetings with cabinet ministers and secretaries without disclosing the fact that his wife recently tested positive for COVID ’19.
The Petitioner further questioned the Court as to why no complaint has been registered against the Minister for violation of section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by Public Officer) and 307 of IPC (Attempt to Murder).
The court taking the aforementioned arguments into account stated that if t he allegations against the Minister are found to be true, action shall be taken against him under section 188 IPC. Taking all the arguments into account the court listed this matter for three weeks later and directed that a copy of this order must be sent to both the parties.
