Bombay High Court Invites Applications for Associate Posts: Apply by April 30

The High Court of Judicature at Bombay has released an official notification inviting online applications for the post of Associate on its Original Side at the Principal Seat in Mumbai. This recruitment drive aims to fill 28 posts, with a select list of 27 candidates and a waitlist of 7 candidates.

Vacancy & Pay Scale

A total of 28 vacancies have been notified for the post of Associate. The position carries a prestigious pay scale equivalent to that of a Civil Judge (Junior Division), i.e., Rs. 92,960 – Rs.1,36,520, along with applicable allowances as per rules.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the post, candidates must:

  • Possess a degree in law from a recognized university
  • For practicing advocates: Have minimum 5 years of experience in the Bombay High Court or its subordinate courts
  • Be 21 years of age or above
  • Not exceed 38 years (Open Category) or 43 years (Reserved Category)

Additionally, candidates must have computer proficiency certification, unless exempted under prescribed conditions.

Selection Process

The recruitment process will consist of:

  1. Screening/Written Test (100 Marks)
    • General English (30 Marks)
    • Legal Knowledge (70 Marks)
  2. Viva-Voce (50 Marks)

Candidates must secure at least 50 marks in the written examination to qualify, though the High Court reserves the right to increase the cutoff.

Applications must be submitted online only through the official website of the Bombay High Court.

  • Last Date to Apply: April 30, 2026 (5:00 PM)

The application fee is Rs. 1000, payable through the SBI Collect online payment gateway. Applications without successful fee payment will not be considered.

Important Instructions

  • The screening test will be conducted in Mumbai only
  • Candidates must ensure all details in the application form are accurate, as no changes will be permitted after submission
  • The select list and waitlist will remain valid for two years
  • Appointment will initially be on probation for two years
