Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission through videoconferencing on 27th September, 2021.
Prime Minister praised Arogya Setu App and CoWIN for the helpful role they played in administering vaccines with covid-19.
The role of technology in health was emphasized, and the growth of telemedicine during the pandemic was also elaborated on, and the estimate of 125crore remote consultations of health through e-Sanjeevani.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) would connect digital health solutions throughout the country. Under ABDM every citizen would have a digital health ID.
PM Modi also said that a holistic and inclusive health model was being sought to be operationalized. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission would aim at making health facilities more accessible to all people.
Reforms in health education were also looked at with plans of establishing one medical college in every three Lok Sabha constituencies. Prime Minister Modi emphasized on the setting up of primary health centre networks at the village level and 80,000 such health centres have already been operationalized.
