Today Gujarat High Court dismissed the sentence of Life imprisonment of Ex-BJP MP Dinu Bogha Solanki. He was convicted for the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethwa in 2010 by CBI in 2019 as the activist was trying to expose the illegal mining activities happening in the Gir forest.
His sentence was suspended due to his appeal before Gujarat High Court.
The Court noted that the case was based on circumstantial evidence and also the accused must be but not maybe proved guilty.
The court also observed that at first Solanki was not named as an accused but when the matter went to CBI in 2013 they found out that one of Solanki’s employer had heard him saying to someone that something needs to be done regarding the deceased. So, in 2013 the CBI declared him as the prime accused of murder.
The Court granted the accused bail on 1 Lakh Personal bond and on the surety that he will not leave the country without the permission of the court.
