The Karnataka High Court granted four-week time to the state government to comply with an earlier order directing to provide one person reservation for transgender in respect of recruitment in all state-owned corporations.
The division bench was headed by acting Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and justice Sachin Shankar Magadum.
the order released on Aug 18 where the court said the state government has taken the innovative step of providing one-person horizontal reservation to transgender in employment as provided in Karnataka civil service rules 2021.
The reservation is applicable to transgender candidates in each category of general merit, SC, ST and OBC categories.
Application was filed by the interveners seeking directions to other public authorities for providing reservation for transgender.
The petitioner had therefore asked for sort directions to the state government to include a separate category for transgender person for the post of special reserve constable force as well as bandsmen.
The matter to be heard on November 17.
