Citizens must not suffer as a result of the government’s faulty system/software for issuing death certificates, according to the Tripura High Court

 

The Tripura High Court has on Friday seen that the residents of the State just as of the nation ought not experience by virtue of a broken framework and flawed programming created by the Government of India for giving passing authentications.

 

The Bench of Justice Arindam Lodh was hearing the supplication of one Abhijit Gon Chowdhury whose spouse passed on in Bangalore and he had applied to the Agartala Municipal Corporation for issuance of the demise declaration of his better half by presenting every one of the important reports.

He made it clear in the court that although his wife passed away more than three months, the city government did not issue a death certificate.

 

Municipal Corporation attributed the delay to software developed by the Indian government and introduced at Agartala Municipal Corporation, claiming that the system does not allow entry or recording of the names of persons working in any location other than Agartala Municipal Corporation.

 

In response, the High Court ordered the Agartala Municipal Corporation to provide a death certificate within 48 hours by whatever means possible. Furthermore, the Court stated that if a similar plea is filed by any citizen of this State, a fee of Rs. 5 lakh will be levied.


Finally, the state administration was ordered to take up the subject with the appropriate Union of India authorities in order to fix the issue so that people of this nation are not harassed. With these remarks and instructions, the current writ petition was granted and dismissed.
