Delhi Police gets criticized by a Delhi Court for the delay in Delhi Riots investigations

In the case of State v. Babu Sahil , a Delhi Court rebuked the Delhi Police for not completing the investigation in the Delhi Riots case.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Arun Kumar, wrote in a official communication to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, that the SHO was slacking in his duty to complete the investigation. It was called a failing of ‘supervisory duty’, as the SHO’s slow investigation had led to the four accused in this case to be incarcerated in jail for almost a year now.

The delay was caused as after the second supplementary chargesheet was filed, adjournment was requested by the State for filing further CCTV footage and FSL report.

The case dealt with “Section 147 (Punishment for rioting), Section 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and Section 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence commit¬ted in prosecution of common object) of the IPC.”

The next date of this case was scheduled for October 4.
