The NIA Special Court has rejected bail requests for the release of Professor Anand Teltumbde and journalist Gautam Navlakha, who are charged with caste violence against Bhima Koregaon Elgar Parishad. The allegations were made under instructions from the prison administration, which asked all inmates over the age of 60 to apply for bail due to the pandemic.
According to Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Prakash Shetty, Navlakha neglected to provide a medical certificate with his bail plea. “The covid situation has significantly improved,” he noted. The bail pleas were denied by Special Judge DE Kothalikar. It goes without saying that the jail authorities must give adequate medical assistance to the petitioner if the circumstance arises.
Teltumbde, on the other hand, was told by the bench that he had requested temporary bail in his bail plea on merits. However, because the substantive bail petition was denied, this would also fail. Accused Arun Ferreira and Surendra Gadling were expected to be brought out of jail on Monday to defend their bail petitions; however, they were not brought out and will most likely be brought back on September 6.
Blamed Sudha Bharadwaj and Navlakha have moved toward the Bombay High Court to remain the preliminary or concede the outlining of charges until the clone duplicates of the relative multitude of electronic gadgets seized are given to the guard.
