The Delhi High Court has asked the Centre and the Delhi government to respond to a petition filed by an 84-year-old widow who wants an immediate door-to-door vaccinations strategy for super-senior and bed-ridden residents in Delhi.
Chief Justice D. N. Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh of the Division Bench issued notice upon this PIL filed by 84-year-old Dhiraj Aggarwal and set the subject for further consideration on September 16.
According to the applicant, she is indeed a part of a vulnerable group who is at greater risk of contracting the Covid-19 virus if she visits the vaccination facility. She also has arthritis and is often bedridden, according to her.
Based on different print and online news, the appeal claimed that several states and UTs, particularly Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, have begun door-to-door vaccination campaigns in recent months. The plaintiff argued that denying these services to super-senior or bed-ridden individuals in Delhi constituted a violation of their fundamental rights.
The petition urged for a helpline for Covid-19 vaccine enrollment to be established and a door-to-door immunisation strategy for super-senior and bed-ridden persons in Delhi.
