The petition was filed before the Bombay high court which
notifications made by BCI were violations of the fundamental rights guaranteed under Article 14,19(1)(a)&21.
BCIs amended rules were prohibiting BCI or a justice public criticism to suppress dissent under the UAPA act.
These BCI rules which mean criticize through social media will lead to misconduct. And it makes suspension or removal or disqualification under the advocate’s act.
The advocate Amritpal Singh Khalsa who filed a plea and seeks direction to stay the notification. He further seeks directions from CJI to extract that rules.
The plea also states that the present notification by BCI is an absolute infringement of freedom of speech and expression.
He also states that it’s difficult to believe that the BCI’s rules are suppressing the dissent of lawyers.
