A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a court-monitored SIT probe into the allegations of Pegasus spying

Serial PIL plaintiff ML Sharma is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team in the Supreme Court after claims of alleged eavesdropping by government entities utilizing the Journal on the Israeli malware Pegasus.

In April, he also called for a new probe of the Rafale contract, citing rumors of a French investigation into Dassault.

Sharma’s presently on the Pegasus issue lists Narendra Modi and a Union minister from the Central Bureau of Investigation as respondents.

When the Pegasus allegations initially arose in 2019, then-IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad did not specifically deny that the Indian government used the services of Israeli company NSO to access Pegasus spyware, according to the PIL.

Female employees who brought sexual harassment complaints against the former Chief Justice of India and some of his family members were classified as potential targets of Pegasus snooping, according to a report in The Telegraph. According to the telegram, 40 Indian journalists, as well as political elites such as Rahul Gandhi and election strategist Prashant Kishor, are on the target list
