Supreme Court urges Central govt to finalise NEET-MDS 2021 counselling schedule within a week

On Monday, the Supreme Court said thay the Ministry of Health is delaying on the issue of finalising the schedule for holding counselling for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and Masters of Dental Surgery courses (NEET-MDS) 2021.

The court observed that due to delayed on part of Central government the decision has not made yet and asked the government to do so by this week.

Further the court allowed one week time which was asked by the Solicitor General who was appearing on behalf of CG.

It was also mentioned by the court that centre should be conscious about the consequences of delay faced by the students due to the non-counselling of students.

The entrance exam was conducted on December 16, 2020 as per the petition.

There has been no update with respect to counselling after the declaration of result on December 31, 2020

The petition asked directions to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to release the counselling date at the earliest, but in any event, not later than three weeks and to direct MCC to conduct a separate counselling for the NEET-MDS 2021 and not wait for the counselling of NEET-PG.
