Rajasthan Government plans to implement an eco-tourism policy

On Saturday, Minister of State for Forest and Environment, Sukhram Bishnoi, stated that a new policy for eco-tourism, would help create employment opportunities in other sectors and would ensure people’s participation in the protection of biodiversity as well as conservation of flora and fauna.

It was further stated that the ecological diversity in Rajasthan makes it an important destination for eco-tourism.

Through the new policy, various sectors of ecotourism would be discovered. The policy would aim at ensuring the smooth functioning of activities such as trekking, birdwatching, hiking, overnight camping, safari and cycling.

With the COVID-19 related restrictions being eased in Rajasthan, the eco-tourism policy aims at attracting domestic tourists and promoting the tourism industry.

The Minister further stated that currently the focus is to attract domestic tourists as foreigner tourists are being restricted due to COVID19 protocols.

The policy would also lay down a roadmap to promote eco-tourism activities for the next 10 years.
