The Delhi High Court awarded monthly compensation of Rs 15,000 to a pair of two-year-old twins who lost their mother beacuse of postpartum complications.
The writ petition was filed on behalf of the twins through their maternal grandfather, Attar Singh.
The court said that 15,000 Rupees per month is enough to take care of needs of children and maternal grandfather can withdraw up to 15,000 Rupees a month, from the pension reserved for the minor children.
In 2017, the deceased mother of the children was working as a nurse in a government hospital in Delhi and eventually she got married and gave birth to the twins. Due to postpartum complications she lost her life.
Subsequently, father of the twins avoided her twins ans left them at their maternal grandfather house. He also tried to avail benefits from his deceased wife’s properties.
With the help of Child Welfare Committee Tribunal in Karnal, the grandfather had filed a complaint. Thus, he was thus prompted to approach the Delhi High Court for relief.
Further, the matter will be heard on August 18, 2021
