The Lakshadweep Administration who has been facing lot of protests over some of its policies, is mooting regarding shift of legal jurisdiction over the islands from Kerala High Court to Karnataka High Court.
According to per Article 241 of the Constitution of India, the jurisdiction of the High Court can only be shifted through an act of the Parliament.
The move to shift High Court jurisdiction arises from the several petitions being filed before the Kerala High Court against the new administrator of Lakshadweep, Praful Patel.
As citizens are not pleased with the new rules and regulations passed by him so they have also taken to the streets and social media to protest the new policy.
Consequently, several arrests was made along with filmmaker Aisha Sultana who was accused of sedition under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code.
Unanimous resolution has recently been passed by the Kerala Assembly demanding that the new Administrator be recalled.
