Debjani Mukherjee, an accused in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, was granted bail by the Calcutta High Court on Saturday in one of several criminal cases against her.
Mukherjee, a director in the Saradha Group of companies, is a co-accused with its promoter Sudipto Sen, and the two were arrested in 2013.
A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arijit Banerjee granted Mukherjee bail on the condition that she submit a Rs 2 lakh bond with two Rs 1 lakh sureties, one of whom must be a local.
Mukherjee will be continue to be behind the bars as she has not yet gotten bail in other states where she is facing charges.
