Plea In Delhi High Court Seeks Priority Vaccination for NRIs Holding Valid Visa, Students Opting for Foreign Education

Pravasi Legal Cell, represented by Advocates M.P. Srivignesh, Robin Raju, and Deepa Joseph, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking priority vaccination for people, including NRIs with valid visas from other countries who normally reside and work in that country, as well as students who opt for foreign education and have a valid offer letter from a university abroad.

It also seeks guidance on how to include passport numbers in vaccination certificates and how to update vaccination certificates that have already been issued with passport numbers for those who intend to travel abroad.

Respondents in the case are the Union of India, through the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The petition requests that the Respondents take appropriate steps to include Covaxin on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Emergency Use Listing (EUL). The case is set to be heard today before a division bench made up of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh.
