The Delhi Police arrested a 28 years old person for allegedly duping a patient’s family who is suffering from Mucormycosis.
The accused was trying to cheat the family in the fake pretext of providing an anti-flu medicine required for the treatment.The accused was identified as Prashant Kumar and he allegedly took Rs. 3,000/- from that family for providing Amphotericin B to the patient.
The police officials said that it’s the first cyber fraud case in relation to Mucormycosis.The Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police said that the family members of the patient couldn’t find the prescribed vials of the medicine at any pharmacy or hospital that’s why they started searching the same in social media, where, they found his(Sharma’s) number on WhatsApp and after taking to him they paid him an advance amount of Rs. 3,000/- , after which he stopped picking up their calls.
On the complaint of the family members of the patient, a case of cheating was registered against him and later with the help of his phone’s location, he was arrested from his house in Ghaziabad.
