Delhi Police arrest Wrestler Sushil Kumar in the Chhatrasal Stadium Murder Case

On the 4th of May, Sagar Ratna, a 23 year old national wrestling champion, training in the Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi, died after allegedly being assaulted by the two-time Olympic medalist, wrestler Sushil Kumar and other wrestlers.

The witnesses have alleged that Sushil Kumar and his associates abducted Sagar for bad-mouthing him in front of other wrestlers.

The Delhi Police registered an FIR under the Indian Penal Code: Section 302 which is the punishment for murder and Section 308 which is the attempt to commit culpable homicide.

On the 17th of May, the Delhi Police had announced a reward of ₹1 lakh to anyone who produces information or leads regarding the arrest of Sushil Kumar in the murder case.
Similarly, a reward of ₹50,000 for information regarding the co-accused.

On the 18th of May, the Delhi High Court had rejected Sushil Kumar’s plea of anticipatory bail.

On the 23rd of May, the Delhi Police has arrested the wrestler Sushil Kumar and the co-accused, Ajay Kumar.
