The Delhi high court has asked the state government to considering judicial as frontline workers, as Delhi judiciary has already lost three judicial officers in the Covid-19 pandemic.
Division bench judges justice Vipin Sanghi and jasmeet Singh said in their opinion judicial officers should be considered as frontline workers since they are facilitating wheels of justice during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Court said that if the government is satisfied that judicial officers are discharging frontline duties, they can be provided facilities and benefits extended to such workers.
Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra also opined that the judicial officers should be declared as frontline workers.During the course of hearing, it has also been laid down the urgent need of vaccination of all judicial officers.
Staff and their families. Court has also sought status report from Delhi government. The matter would be heard next on May 26.
