Andhra Pradesh Government to set up 10 Anti-Human Trafficking Units

The State Government of Andhra Pradesh decided to set up 10 new Anti-Human Trafficking Units in addition to the 3 existing units.This decision to establish the AHTUs (Anti-Human Trafficking Units) was taken by the Principal Secretary to Govt. (Home Department) Kumar Vishwajeet,by considering the proposal of Director General of Police D. Gautam Sawang.

AHTUs will work in coordination with Women and Child Welfare Department, Labour Department and other stakeholders of the Central Government in order to strengthen law enforcement.These AHTUs will be declared as police stations and will be housed in the Disha police stations in their respective districts.Local police unit heads will be the nodal officers of the AHTUs.

The Additional DG rank officer from CID will be designated as State Level Anti Human Trafficking Nodal Officer.AHTUs will have jurisdiction over the entire district for the registration of FIRs and the investigation of all cases related to human trafficking.Each AHTU will consist of an inspector, two sub-inspectors, two head constables and two constables.
