The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, tweeted that the Kerala Essential Articles Control Act, 1986 is being invoked to control prices of the essential articles required for treating COVID19.
This step was taken by the Government to keep a check on black-marketing and profiteering. This decision was also taken keeping in mind, the surge of COVID19.
The decision is also in consonance with the Centre’s directions of making medicines affordable and available to common man.
The Health and Family Welfare department proposed the following prices for the essentials items as follows:
1. PPE Kits- ₹273 3.
N95 Mask- ₹22
5. Triple Layer Mask- ₹3.90
7. Face Shield- ₹21
9. Disposable Apron -₹12
11. Surgical Gown- ₹65
13. Inspection Gloves- ₹5.75
15. Hand sanitizers (500ml/200ml/100ml)- (₹192/₹98/₹55 respectively)
16. A pair of sterile gloves-₹15
17. NRB Mask- ₹80
18. Oxygen Mask- ₹54
19. Flow Meter with Humidifier- ₹1520
20. Pulse Oximeter- ₹1520
