The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, tweeted that the Kerala Essential Articles Control Act, 1986 is being invoked to control prices of the essential articles required for treating COVID19.
This step was taken by the Government to keep a check on black-marketing and profiteering. This decision was also taken keeping in mind, the surge of COVID19.
The decision is also in consonance with the Centre’s directions of making medicines affordable and available to common man.
The Health and Family Welfare department proposed the following prices for the essentials items as follows:

5. Triple Layer Mask- â‚ą3.90
7. Face Shield- â‚ą21
9. Disposable Apron -â‚ą12
11. Surgical Gown- â‚ą65
13. Inspection Gloves- â‚ą5.75
15. Hand sanitizers (500ml/200ml/100ml)- (â‚ą192/â‚ą98/â‚ą55 respectively)
16. A pair of sterile gloves-â‚ą15
17. NRB Mask- â‚ą80
18. Oxygen Mask- â‚ą54
19. Flow Meter with Humidifier- â‚ą1520
20. Pulse Oximeter- â‚ą1520
