On Friday, a decision to convene a special session of Parliament was taken at a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party consisting of all Members of the Parliament from the party.
After the discussion, the leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, wrote separate letters to the President Ram Nath Kovid and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla.
The letter stated that an international journal has predicted one million deaths by August 1, and the pandemic situation being grave, there is a need to find a national situation.
The letter proposed a special two day session to be convened by the Parliament following all the Covid19 protocols.
It was further stated that in times of crisis, this special session is necessary as the entire country is suffering.
The letter also urged this special parliamentary session in order to understand the crisis faced in every constituency of the country and to ease the people of their sufferings.
