Week-long lockdown in Haryana from tomorrow

Haryana Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said a complete lockdown would be imposed in the state for seven days from May 3 in view of the rising Covid-19 cases. Until now, the government has imposed lockdown in only 9 cities, that are- Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panchkula, Sonipat, Rohtak, Karnal, Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehab.

The state government also said employees with severe disabilities, vulnerable persons and pregnant women should not be called for duty, even if they were engaged in essential services.

Haryana on Saturday registered its biggest single-day jump of 125 deaths due to Covid-19, raising the toll to 4,341, while 13,588 fresh cases pushed the infection count to 5,01,566.
