The Supreme Court has constituted a committee to regulate the matters at Mahabaleshwar temple in Gokarna, which will be led by retired Supreme Court judge Justice BN Srikrishna.
In an appeal against a 2018 Karnataka High Court judgment that had quashed the govt’s order giving away administration of Mahabaleshwar temple in Gokarna to Ramchandrapura Math, a Bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde, Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian issued the order.
“We recommend that the monitoring committee be chaired by Justice BN Srikrishna, who is a retired Supreme Court judge. The applicant must turn the charge over to the Assistant Commissioner, who will report to the oversight committee “The Supreme Court made the decision.
It was also stated that the monitoring committee must operate in accordance with all temple customs and beliefs.
