The sources said that no decision is being taken regarding the appointment of the judges, as of now, even after a meeting of the collegium of Supreme Court judges headed by Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde on Thursday.
The meeting was regarding the elevation of the Tripura High Court, Chief Justice Akil Kureshi and Karnataka High Court Justice BV Nagarathna to the Supreme Court.
All the five members of the collegium attended the meeting. Justice Ramana who is on leave also attended the meeting despite of his ill health.
It’ll be a historic move that no Chief Justice of India retires from of his office without any appointment of new judges to the Supreme Court.
