The National Investigation Agency on Friday sent Sachin Waze a suspended police officer involved in the case of planning of gelatin sticks in an SUV near the Ambani Residence in South Mumbai on February 25 to judicial custody till April 23, 2021.
Sachin Waze, a former Assistant Police Officer was arrested on March 13, 2021 by the central agency after being accused for his involvement in parking of explosive-laden SUV near Mukesh Ambani’s house. He is also an accused in the alleged murder of Hiran who was in possession of the SUV.
The NIA had revealed to the court that an amount of Rs. 1.5 crore was found in the account of a private bank in the name of a company under Waze.Special public prosecutor Sunil Gonsalves, brought to the notice of the court that a letter written by Waze was circulated on the last hearing on April 7 was shared without following proper procedure.
The letter was not taken on record by the court since it wasn’t done as per procedure but it was still made public. Special Judge PR Sitre rapped Waze along with his legal team and asked them to follow due procedure as per the Criminal Procedure Code.
Senior Counsel Aabad Ponda appearing on behalf on Waze filed a plea seeking to ensure a secure cell in jail for Waze considering danger to his life. The court approved of the same.
The court also allowed CBI to access documents seized by NIA in the current case.
