Mumbai Police alleged that Republic TV is trying to play the victim card in the TRP Scam case, so that their case should be handled by CBI instead of Mumbai Police.
It was submitted before the Bombay High Court by filling an affidavit. The affidavit was filed in response to to the rejoinder affidavit filed by ARG Outlier Media Pvt. Ltd. (holding company for Republic TV channels) in ARG’s plea challenging the criminal proceedings initiated against their channel and the employees in the TRP Scam case.
They further said that the powers to quash the FIR/ chargesheet or investigation can be done only at the instance of a named accused, and not by a third party.
On the other hand, Republic TV says that there is no basis of the case and hence it should be quased and if there is any case it comes within the ambitbif investigation under Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and therefore the investigation ought to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
