Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and president of people’s Democratic Party mehbooba mufti has moved to Jammu and Kashmir high court seeking directions to government and police authorities to issue passport.
In her plea mufti has sought directions from the high court to the central government and other officials concerned for issuance o Of passport allegedly denied to her for want of police verification.According to petition, mehbooba mufti’s passport had expired on may 31,2019. She therefore applied for renewal of passport on 11 December,2020.
And even after 1 month the police verification has not been done which was supposed to be done in 21 days.It has been contented by mehbooba mufti that delay in issuing the passport affects the fundamental rights and it is not in conformity with the constitutional mandate and provisions of the passport act.
