Motera stadium renamed narendra Modi stadium as president Ram Nath Kovind inaugurates the venue

President Ram Nath kovind inaugurated the world’s largest cricket arena. The refurbished Sardar Patel stadium which will now be known as Narendra Modi stadium.

This stadium has been conceptualised by prime minister Narendra Modi long before when he has chief minister of Gujarat.

The home minister Amit shah and sports minister kiren Rijiju were also present while the president inaugurated the stadium on 24 February, 2021.

The world largest stadium is spread over 63 acres, the stadium has been built at an estimated cost of Rs. 800 crore. The stadium has seating capacity for 1,32,000 spectators.

Australian architect firm populous, which designed the Melbourne cricket stadium among others is the architect of this new stadium.

The stadium also had cricket academy, indoor practice pitches and two separate grounds with small pavilion area.
