On Friday, the Centre informed the Supreme Court that they are willing to give an extra chance to the civil service aspirants who have exhausted their last exam attempt in October,2020 due to pandemic, however the candidates who are aged barred will not get benifit of the same.
Additional Solicitor General S V Rajus said that, ‘This relaxation for the candidates and to the extent prescribed above shall be a one time relaxation only for appearing in CSE-2021 and shall not be treated as a precedent.’However, the Supreme Court pointed out that in the affidavit filed by the Centre, it is not mentioned that at what level this decision is taken and therefore the Government then said that they will file a fresh affidavit.
The Supreme Court, therefore, has asked the petitioners to reply to the proposal made by the government and fixed February 8 as the next date for the hearing.
