Prominent Lebanese Hezbollah critic shot dead
A prominent Lebanese activist and intellectual, Lokman Slim,58 who was known for his opposition to the Shiite community Hezbollah. He was found dead in his car.
. He has been a leading secular voice in the Shiite community and he was often targeted and even threatened for his anti-hezabollah stand.
Slim had founded an organisation called Umam Documentation and Research aimed at archiving Lebanon’s violent past with the aim of raising awareness and preventing further conflict. Slim’s own sister said that his death was confirmed when his disappearance was inevitably linked to his political stand.
Interior Minister of Lebanon, Mohammed Fahmi, termed this incident as ‘horrible crime’. He had made many documentaries with his wife.
