A petition was submitted before the Supreme Court with a view for replacing all three members who are currently members of the committee named by the Court to facilitate talks with protesting farmers.
The petition filed by Bhartiya Kisan Union Lokshakti (BKUL) through advocate AP Singh prayed for the committee’s reestablishment by including neutral individuals such as retired judges of the Supreme Court and members of farmers’ unions.
The plea was raised in the light of the fact that, through written publications in various papers and other media outlets, all the present members of the committee expressed their support for the Farm Acts.
Consequently, the claimant argued that the retention of the three existing members of the committee would only lead to a breach of the standards of natural justice.
The appeal also urged the court to reject the application filed by the Delhi police to prohibit the tractor rally scheduled to take place on Republic Day.
