The National Green Tribunal has recently imposed a “total ban” on sale or use of all kinds of firecrackers in the NCR from November 9 midnight to November 30 midnight amid worsening air quality, but people in even high-rise societies did not follow the order.
The development came even as the average 24-hour air quality in Noida and Ghaziabad became severely bad, while it stayed very poor in Greater Noida, Gurugram and Faridabad.
Despite air pollution concerns in NCR coupled 4 people dying in Delhi every hour due to COVID-19, residents in Ghaziabad say there was non-stop sound of firecrackers.
Some residents have accepted the fact that the burden of following rules only applies to those who stay at home like them. Implementation of laws are not strict enough.
