Calcutta High Court prohibits selling and bursting firecrackers

The Calcutta High Court has issued a new order on the use of fireworks in the state. In its previous order court has banned the use of firecrackers in the state during Diwali but in the recent order, the court has banned the use and selling of fireworks in the state for this whole year.

The division bench of the high court, while hearing two PIL’s stated that, the bursting of crackers in this pandemic period will be harmful to the environment and also for the patients. the bench added that, persons involved in the firework business will suffer from loss but the public interest can not be compromised.

The court has also added the guidelines for the upcoming festivals to avoid social gathering and strict legal action can be taken against the violators of guidelines.
