
The counting of votes for sixth Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh general council elections began at 9 am on Monday morning. As per the leh.nic.in, the result of seven out of 26 constituencies has been declared.
ISTThe BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and 23 Independent candidates are in the fray for the 26 councillor seats of the 6th Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council of Leh district.
Out of the seven, the BJP has won six constituencies, and the remaining one has been grabbed by an Independent.
The six constituencies won by the BJP so far are – Turtuk, Hundar, Diskit, Tegar, Panamik, and Tangtse. The Chushul constituency has been won by Konchok Stanzin (Independent).
Notably, EVMs were used for the first time in the Hill Council Elections. Votes of seven territorial constituencies will be counted in each round.
This was the first democratic exercise after granting of Union Territory status to the region in 2019.
