Kerala actor assault case: Court dismisses application to stop trial

The famous Malayalam actor is accused of hatching a criminal conspiracy in abducting the victim, who is also an actor. She was sexually assaulted. The prosecution of abduction and sexual assault of Malayalam film actor in this case has sought an application to stop the trial proceedings stating that the conduct of trial court was highly biased.

The additional Sessions Judge of Ernakulam dismissed this application. It was held that “prosecutor was absent in the case and counsel who represented on behalf of him was also reluctant to argue.” The prosecution’s application to postpone the trial was dismissed and the Special Judge Honey M Varghese gave direction to the investigation officer to take action and resume the trial from November 3. The Supreme Court has held that the case should be concluded within 6 months. Therefore, the trial has been ordered to start from November 3 and to end within 6 months as said by the Supreme Court.
