Lodge FIRs against Union Minister Tomar, Kamal Nath for breach of Covid Protocol, orders Madhya Pradesh HC

The Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court has directed the DM of Datia and Gwalior to make sure the filing of FIR against Union Agriculture Minister and state Congress president for alleged breach of COVID-19 protocol at their election meetings.

The division bench passed this interim order after hearing a petition alleging violation of COVID-19 protocols at political congregations within the Gwalior-Chambal region of the state.

State Advocate submitted that 5 FIRs had been registered in compliance with the court’s interim order and also the FIRs underneath Section 154 of CrPc are registered.

The Court determined that the Election campaign is an indivisible part of the election process that starts from the declaration of election programme and finally ends up on the declaration of result.

The high court additionally mentioned that ā€œthe physical political meetings and rallies, can only be organized, when the political party/candidate deposits cash with the DM, that is enough to get double the amount of masks and sanitizers needed for safeguarding and sanitizing the number of persons expected within the congregation.
