A Delhi Court on Friday has extended the remand of Delhi Riots accused Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and extended the same till 20th November, 2020.
Advocate Trideep Pais, appearing on behalf of Khalid, requested the Court to peruse the earlier Applications submitted by the Delhi Police. After reading the Application, the Judge informed the Counsels as well as the accused about the extension of the remand till November 20.
Advocate Surabhi Dhar, appearing on behalf of Imam, contended that the Application of Delhi Police had made no claims about the accused and that Imam had nothing to do with the charges of the FIR. Pais submitted that Khalid had cooperated at every step of the investigation and that the Application submitted by the Delhi Police was copy pasted from an earlier Application.
