On 24th September The Division Bench of Justice Siddhartha Verma and Justice Ajit Kumar of Allahabad high court while hearing a Public Interest Litigation raised on Inhuman Condition at quarantine centres and for providing better treatment to corona positive patients, issued a writ of mandamus for the whole of the State of Uttar Pradesh that “no person should be seen outside his/ her house without a mask on his/her face and he or she should check that the mask covers both the nose and the mouth.”
The Bench observed the matter on five issues and issued a slew of directions.
I. Encroachment of public land and the menace of parking;
II. Discharge of function by the Town Vending Committee;
III. Disposal of used masks;
IV. Public wearing of masks; and
V. Further medical facility during COVID-19.
The matter has been posted for further hearing on 28th September 2020.
