For using the Cam Scanner mobile application to scan his bail application An Additional Sessions Judge recently reprimanded a bail applicant’s lawyer in the case of (Rupendra Kumar v. State)
The app had been banned by the Government of India, Judge Sunil Chaudhury cautioned against its use in “legal work in the future”.
The application was scanned by the Cam Scanner which is a Chinese app and has been banned by the Govt of India. The Counsel is advised to avoid the use of a banned application in legal work in future.”
The Court, however, directed the Investigating Officer to respond to the submissions made in the scanned bail application by the next date of hearing.
In June, the Government had banned 59 apps of Chinese origin “in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.”
