While hearing a criminal appeal Justice PB Suresh Kumar of the Kerala High Court stated that he will issue some general guidelines in regards to the trial and investigation of the POCSO cases. The Court issued notice to Kerala Legal Service Authority and Public prosecutor and will hear the matter next on August 25, 2020.

The Court observed that quality of Justice must be there in this field and stated that “lack of professionalism is writ large in the investigations. Fundamental flaws such as, not collecting legal evidence to prove the age of the victim for want of awareness as to relevance of such evidence have come to notice of this court not in one, but in several cases.”

The Court said that it is committed to issue such guidelines which could cater to the psychological aspects of the victim.
