A plea has been filed by Swetha Pal, a PGDM in Child Psychology before the Jharkhand High Court demanding regulation of online classes based on Guidelines issued by Ministry of Human Resource Development and a immediate ban on online streaming classes for students in pre-primary standard till 5th grade (Under 10 years) to safeguard their mental health considering the NIMHANS Director advice.
He stated that “Long duration of online classes are not good for the children as it restrict their movement, running, fighting, playing which affect their development of intellectual and physical development through play and structured activities,”
The plea also highlights various issues faced by students. Like poor network, lack of digital infrastructure, unreliable electricity services, arbitrary and unreasonable tuition fee charged by some schools for online classes, inability of students with disability to access online classes, etc.
