
On the occasion of the 74th Independence Day of India, Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Justice NV Ramana launched a Campaign for “Empowering women through Legal Awareness” in association with National Commission for Women.
The campaign is aimed to make women aware of the relevant rights and protections available to them under the various laws. It will help women to enhance their capacities so that they are able to advance their rights and navigate the judicial and administrative set up for actualisation of their rights.
The project aims to introduce 570 legal literacy programmes for women in 285 districts in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
As a part of the campaign NALSA also released its “Handbook on laws relating to Women” and other IEC material in easy to understand language.
