On 17th August, 2020, the Delhi High Court while hearing a petition filed by NGO Akhil Bhartiya Shanti Pratishtan on the lookout for directions to the CBI and ED to investigate the alleged selling of a painting of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to Yes Bank co-founder Rana Kapoor for Rs 2 crores by Ms Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Milind Deora.

The counsel on behalf of the NGO, Advocate Rajeev Lochan contented that an FIR should be lodged against the Congress leaders and Rana Kapoor for allegedly laundering money, cheating, extortion, fraud, and misrepresentation. The petition has also alleged that Deora is a partner conspirator in the case of selling the painting of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi made by renowned artist M.F. Husain.

The matter was being heard by Justice Vibhu Bakhru who observed that “This court does not consider it apposite to entertain the writ petition” and hence, dismissed the petition. He also stated that “The Supreme Court, in a number of cases, has held that it is necessary for a complainant to exhaust all the remedies available to it before approaching the high court” and directed the NGO should approach the lower court, wherein another FIR, regarding the Yes Bank scam is already pending.
