
The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has informed that an amount equal to Rs. 3000 has been sanctioned as monthly stipend for the young advocates practicing in the state for a period of two years by Chief Minister of the State.
Atleast 2000 young advocates will be benefited under this scheme. The State Bar Council earlier had requested CM Palaniswami to grant a monthly stipend of Rs. 5000 to newly enrolled junior advocates in the state.
The Bar Council of India had requested the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of states earlier this year to provide Rs. 20,000 as subsistence allowance every month to newly enrolled young lawyers who were not financially well off.
The State Bar Council thanked CM Palaniswami on behalf of the legal fraternity for taking such a step.
