THREE MORE JUDGES IN CHENNAI TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

Three subordinate judges of Madras High Court presiding over small courses courts tested positive for COVID-19. Reports claim that all 3 of them are undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Besides, the staff in the Madras High Court are also thought to have tested positive. Earlier this month, few other court staff and judges tested positive, and the courts were asked to be sanitised.

The subordinate courts have been functioning with limited staff since the first week of May. Urgent matters are being heard via video-conferencing. Most judges work from their chambers. Earlier this month, four judges of the High Court and members of the Central Administrative Tribunal and Egmore court campus were tested positive, in the light of which some measures of social-distancing were taken.
