Remdesivir has been included as a part of investigational therapy by the Union Ministry of Health and has updated Clinical Management Protocol of Covid 19 patients. Loss of taste and smell has also been included in list of symptoms of covid 19 infection.
Under the new protocol the union health ministry has removed its earlier recommendation of the use of Hydroxychloroquine in severe cases and also the use of Hydroxychloroquine in combination with Azithromycin was removed. The new protocol includes the list of medicines that can be taken by patients suffering from Covid 19 such as Tocilizumab, Convalescent plasma therapy. CPT is a experimental treatment that is being used by some doctors on Covid 19 patients. Under this therapy the antibodies isolated from the Covid 19 recovered patients are injected into the affected people with the virus. The blood sample of people recovered from Covid 19 is called Convalescent Plasma.
This therapy is used on people who’s body is not responding to other drugs and are suffering from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
