A plea is filed in Madras High Court to enforce lockdown owing to the sudden surge in the number of cases. The Petitioner averred in his petition that is such spike is not controlled there will be an irreversible damage cause to the caused to the health and like of the residents of Chennai.
The petitioner also contended that if strict lockdown is not enforced, it will be very difficult to maintain social distancing and every person in Chennai and their families will be exposed to the risk. The petitioner also pointed out that the government ought to have balanced the objectives of the National Disaster Management Act with the economy.
Thus the petitioner stated that lifting the lockdown may not be the right decision for the jurisdiction of Greater Chennai Police.
